Visit of IFIP President Elect Mike Hinchey to Ukraine

16 17 December, 2015 on the invitation of the Ukrainian Federation of Informatics and IT Ukraine Association a visit of IFIP President Elect Mike Hinchey to Kyiv took place.

December 16 M.Hinchey attended the meeting with the leadership of Glushkov Institute of Cybernetics (GIC)of National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine (NASU), organized by the President of the Ukrainian Federation of Informatics Academician I.Sergienko. Glushkov Institute of Cybernetics is a widely known in Ukraine and abroad scientific center for solution of fundamental and applied problems in computer science and engineering, which is member of the Ukrainian Federation of Informatics (UFI). The meeting was attended by Deputy Director of the Institute Academician Yu. Krivonos, heads of departments of the Institute, representative of UFI in IFIP General Assembly, head of the chair of Kharkiv National University of Radio Electronics prof. I.Grebennik, Chairman of UFI Working Group “Information technologies in educational and cultural environment” O.Chaykovska, director of the Information technology training centre, Vice-chairman of LIKS (Lithuanian Computer Society) S.Vaicekauskienė (Lithuania). The meeting discussed issues of cooperation between the IFIP and UFI, scheduled conducting in Ukraine events under IFIP.

December 16 Michael Hinchey visited Kyiv National University of Culture and Arts, a member of UFI. At the meeting with the University problems of the application of information technology in the cultural environment and international cooperation were discussed.

December 17 M. Hinchey took part in Third International Conference “Synergy: IT education and IT industry”, organized by Association “IT Ukraine”. At the conference, he made presentation: Encouraging engagement in programming.

In the sidelines of the conference M. Hinchey met with the Acting Rector of Kharkiv National University of Radio Electronics, a member of UFI, E. Rubin. Actual problems of cooperation between IFIP and Ukrainian universities, organization of joint events in educational and scientific areas were considered.
